Some Hindu beliefs on total eclipse

Meditation, chanting hymns, mantras and singing devotional songs protects one during the period of eclipse.
It is prohibited to touch the idols during the eclipse, but it is usually easy since temple doors are shut during the period. The idols are supposed to be purified at the end of the eclipse in the river Ganga.
If you cook during an eclipse, then your meal will be infested with evil. Left overs are also finished up before the eclipse for same reason however, some people use Indian basil leaves on their cooked foods then cover them with a belief that it would keep them safe from the evil of the eclipse.
Pregnant women are not supposed to use sharp objects for anything that may include cutting vegetables...we talked about not cooking before. Pay attention. Although this belief may be peculiar to some parts of India, pregnant women are not supposed to sit with their legs crossed.
Thou shalt not sleeping, urinate, defecate, get it on and wear makeup during the eclipse. All these create vulnerabilities to be exploited by the eclipse-causing demon.
Note: Some of the above may be applicable to some adherents depending on their school of thoughts.
You may or may not believe in the credence of the above but they do comfort those who believe in the religion which explains it to them.
I hope @geetasnani and other Hindus will find this interesting.
