(ENG/ESP) Repurposing my social networks /Cambiando el propósito de mis redes sociales.

La semana pasada, había empezado con mucho entusiasmo mi proyecto del fancomic para compartir con mi comunidad de Lords Mobile.

A medida que iba avanzando la semana, los inconvenientes empezaron a aparecer: constantes apagones y bajas de tensión durante el día y la noche, lo cual me obligaba a mantener mi laptop apagado y desconectado en prevención.

Ya la situación me tenía bastante molesta porque prefiero que algo se atrase por mi propia culpa y/o falta de planificación a tener que adaptarme al ritmo que las condiciones externas me impongan, sobre todo cuando es algo que depende enteramente de mí, como es el caso de escribir y dibujar un fancomic.

Sin embargo, algo que me enseñó la vida y últimamente ha estado haciéndome recordatorios, es que de toda situación, por más mala que parezca, se puede sacar algo bueno. Así que, en lugar de quejarme y quedarme rumiando la molestia de no poder hacer lo que quiero, empecé a preguntarme qué podía hacer durante ese tiempo.

Algo que quería hacer desde hace un tiempo era cambiar la forma en la que llevo mis redes sociales y darles un objetivo más específico que simplemente compartir las ilustraciones que hago y pasar un rato viendo memes y videos.

Aproveché el tiempo para replanteármelo. Hice una tormenta de ideas en función al enfoque de cada plataforma y esta sería la forma en quiero empezar a manejar mis redes sociales:

1- Youtube: Inicialmente, abrí mi canal de Youtube para compartir con mis amigos y seguidores cercanos algunos speedpaints. No tenía un objetivo para el canal y no veía forma de hacer videos ya que la timidez no me dejaba estar frente a la cámara ni hablar. Mi objetivo ahora es usar mi canal principal para hacer vlogs y enseñar. Siempre me ha gustado enseñar a las personas. Mi valor agregado al canal será, no sólo enseñar temas básicos de dibujo digital para los artistas que están empezando en este mundo, sino compartir lo que aprendí durante todos los años que trabajé como Asistente y Gerente en las áreas administrativas y financieras de una corporación, de modo que los nuevos artistas puedan tener herramientas y conocimientos aplicables a su negocio que le permita entender cómo manejar, administrar y gerenciar una micro empresa de la manera más simple y sencilla posible. Adicionalmente, he abierto un canal exclusivo para mis prácticas de animación ya que es algo en lo que quiero poner el enfoque de aprendizaje.

2.- TikTok: Empecé hace no mucho con un canal de Tiktok, en el que he ido subiendo poco a poco algún contenido. No había puesto mucho esfuerzo en hacerlo crecer porque primero quería analizar la plataforma y entender cómo podría usarla. He encontrado que es un excelente canal para formar una comunidad con una comunicación más fluida y de manera bastante informal. Así que estaré preparando temas para compartir y discutir con mi comunidad. ¡No esperen bailes de mi parte ni que salga en cámara! No soy buena bailarina ni aún estoy preparada para estar frente a una cámara hablando.

3.- Instagram: A pesar que Instagram ha hecho bastante complejo el poder llegar a una audiencia más amplia por todos los cambios que sufre constantemente su algoritmo, es donde mi comunidad más grande está. Sobre todo mis seguidores de Asia: Singapore, Malasia, Japón, India, etc., quienes me han apoyado durante años y eso lo aprecio muchísimo. También mis comunidades de Lords Mobile y Shingeki no Kyojin me siguen más allí. Así que quiero hacer mi sitio de Instagram lo más agradable posible para ellos, por lo que haré encuestas para saber qué les gustaría ver allí, que les aporte y les haga el día más divertido y alegre.

4.- Blogs: Inicié mis blogs con la intención de tener un lugar donde compartir mis comics. Sin embargo, me gustaría extender este propósito inicial para agregar artículos informativos (lo cual me permitirá ejercitar mis habilidades en escritura) y hacer un diario de mis procesos creativos sobre todo en el caso de los comics. Me enfocaré inicialmente en mis blogs en Hive y Medium.

Por el momento, estas serían las primeras redes sociales en las que comenzaré a aplicar cambios. Quiero ir poco a poco ya que esto implica planificar, crear contenido, compartirlo, responder comentarios y es necesario hacer un balance entre la parte de comunicación con mi audiencia y poder seguir creando comics e ilustraciones, así como trabajar con comisiones, lo cual lleva también su tiempo considerable. ¡Manos a la obra!

Last week, I had enthusiastically started my fancomic project to share with my Lords Mobile community.

As the week progressed, the inconveniences began to appear: constant blackouts and low voltage during the day and night, which forced me to keep my laptop turned off and disconnected in prevention.

I was already quite annoyed by the situation because I prefer that something be delayed due to my own fault and/or lack of planning than having to adapt to the rhythm that external conditions impose on me, especially when it is something that depends entirely on me, such as the case of writing and drawing a fancomic.

However, something that life taught me and lately it has been reminding me is that something good can come out of every situation, no matter how bad it may seem. So instead of complaining and brooding over not being able to do what I want, I began to wonder what I could do during that time.

Something I wanted to do for a while was to change the way I manage my social networks and give them a more specific objective than just sharing the illustrations I make and spending time watching memes and videos.

I took advantage of the time to rethink it. I brainstormed based on the approach of each platform and this would be the way I want to start managing my social networks:

1.- Youtube: Initially, I started my Youtube channel to share some speedpaints with my friends and close followers. I didn't have a goal for the channel and I didn't see a way to make videos since shyness didn't let me be in front of the camera or speak. My goal now is to use my main channel for vlogging and teaching. I have always liked teaching people. My added value to the channel will be, not only to teach basic digital drawing topics for artists who are starting in this world, but also to share what I learned during all the years that I worked as Assistant and Manager in the administrative and financial areas of a corporation, so that new artists can have tools and knowledge applicable to their business that allows them to understand how to run, administer and manage a micro-enterprise in the simplest and easiest way possible. Additionally, I have opened an exclusive channel for my animation practices since it is something in which I want to put the learning focus.

2.- TikTok: I started not long ago with a TikTok channel, in which I have gradually uploaded some content. I hadn't put a lot of effort into growing it because I wanted to analyze the platform first and understand how I could use it. I have found that it is an excellent channel to form a community with a more fluid communication and in a quite informal way. So I'll be preparing topics to share and discuss with my community. Do not expect dances from me or that I appear on camera! I'm not a good dancer and I'm not yet ready to be in front of a camera talking.

3.- Instagram: Despite the fact that Instagram has made it quite complex to reach a broader audience due to all the changes that its algorithm constantly undergoes, it is where my largest community is. Especially my fans from Asia: Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, India, etc., who have supported me for years and I really appreciate that. Also my Lords Mobile and Shingeki no Kyojin communities follow me there more. So I want to make my Instagram site as pleasant as possible for them, so I will do surveys to find out what they would like to see there, that it brings to them and makes their day more fun and joyful.

4.- Blogs: I started my blogs with the intention of having a place to share my comics. However, I would like to extend this initial purpose to add informative articles (which will allow me to exercise my writing skills) and to make a journal of my creative processes, especially in the case of comics. I will initially focus on my blogs on Hive and Medium.

For the moment, these would be the first social networks in which I will begin to apply changes. I want to go little by little since this implies planning, creating content, sharing it, responding to comments and it is necessary to balance communication with my audience and being able to continue creating comics and illustrations, as well as working with commissions, which also takes his considerable time. Let's do it!
