Reaccionar en lugar de pensar en una situación, puede acarrear consecuencias que tal vez no sean de nuestro agrado.

Reaccionar es una conducta humana muy normal. La reacción suele ser la respuesta ante una estimulo que nos ponga en una situación que nos haga sentir ante un peligro. Como los hombres de las cavernas, no había tiempo para pensar ante el ataque de un animal salvaje, o atacabas o te retirabas. En ambas situaciones, era cuestión de vida o muerte.

Este tipo de mecanismo de respuesta sigue latente en nuestro inconsciente y se dispara ante el menor atisbo de peligro. Sin embargo, lo que enfrentamos actualmente no son dinosaurios y bestias gigantes, sino situaciones y problemas que resolver en nuestro día a día por lo que el uso de la fuerza física ha pasado a un segundo plano y se requiere más el uso del pensamiento crítico y analítico.

Aprender a controlar esa urgencia de reaccionar ante cualquier situación antes de evaluar las opciones disponibles para resolverla nos ayudará mucho a evitarnos momentos o consecuencias no deseadas que pudieron ser evitadas con sólo evaluar un poco el escenario.

Reacting instead of thinking about a situation can lead to consequences that may not be to our liking.

Reacting is a very normal human behavior. The reaction is usually the response to a stimulus that puts us in a situation that makes us feel in danger. Like cavemen, there was no time to think when faced with a wild animal attack, either attack or retreat. In both situations, it was a matter of life or death.

This type of response mechanism is still latent in our unconscious and is triggered at the slightest hint of danger. However, what we currently face are not dinosaurs and giant beasts, but situations and problems to solve in our day to day life, so the use of physical force has taken a backseat and the use of critical thinking and analytical is more required.

Learning to control that urge to react to any situation before evaluating the available options to solve it will help us a lot to avoid undesired moments or consequences that could have been avoided just by evaluating the scenario a bit.

Maybe Kyrsiel will learn for the next time…if there is another time for him!
