2 passages from Tao Te Ching which I interpret as a beautiful explanation of the word Islam(الاسلام) etymologically/metaphysically/psychologically.

"The sage stays behind, thus he is ahead.
He is detached, thus at one with all.
Through selfless action, he attains fulfillment."
(Tao Te Ching, VII)

"We join spokes together in a wheel,
but it is the center hole
that makes the wagon move.
We shape clay into a pot,
but it is the emptiness inside
that holds whatever we want.
We hammer wood for a house,
but it is the inner space
that makes it livable.
We work with being,
but non-being is what we use."
(Tao Te Ching, XI)

O wayfarer! Know that knowledge is not for power but realization of servitude and poverty for it being the highest attestation of a man to his highest reality. Then O wayfarer, don't even assert a potential for yourself to be actual for potentiality being your true actuality.
