# **Catching Up on Hive ☕️**
Feels like I’m just catching up here after some time away. I was never gone, just deep in the long work. Teaching. Writing. Building. Thinking. The kind of work that doesn’t always show up in a feed but shapes what comes next.
Made with ChatGPT
Hive has a different rhythm than most places online. It rewards presence, patience, and people who actually read. That’s part of why it’s worth re-returning, slow ideas still matter here.
I’ve been spending my Saturday morning in Ecency Decks, and the view is looking good. It’s a powerful way to watch the world think in real-time—from this week's Advent Calendar Prize and @LivingUKTaiwan frozen landscapes of Antarctica to the persistent community energy of #BeerSaturday.
I also took a look at the PeakD Store. The new store explorer is cool. Seeing the "Explorer" subscription live is fascinating. Its a nice improvement, lots of promise. Good proof of concept for decentralized, non-custodial recurring payments. Of course I subscribed to offer my support. It’s exactly the kind of "Humanity-centered programming" I’ve written about before; building mechanisms that actually support people and the community.

What also stands out to me is how quietly thoughtful the design feels, including the way AI is being used on Hive. I understand the "proof of brain" construct but I don't think we will be able to avoid the AI Brain Augment that is coming to the world. We will have to redefine "Proof of Brain." AI on Hive is going to help us support discovery, context, and participation. AI tools will help communities create broader without getting in the way.
So this morning is for reading posts I missed, leaving a few thoughtful comments, and easing back into the conversation. I'm claiming some old rewards, viewing some wallets for inspiration while I browse, and re-casting my witness votes to make sure my voice is back in the mix.
No rush. No announcements. Just catching up.
Good to see familiar names still thinking out loud.
