CHANTERELLA MUSHROOMS (Cantharella-
ceae), a family of aphyllophoric fungi. Fruit bodies in the form of hats
from the center. stalk or funnel-shaped, re
or in the form of a shoulder blade, disk, fleshy or
thin-fleshed, membranous. Hymenophore on the underside of fruiting bodies, smooth or in the form of radial veins, ribs, folds, descending along the stem. The most famous Cantharellus cibarius is an egg-yellow fruiting body, diam. up to 10 cm and high. up to 12 cm. The cap is initially convex, later funnel-shaped-concave, with a wavy edge. Hymenophore in the form of clutches. Edible, not affected by Diptera larvae (worms).
