Handcrafted with Love: Custom Crochet Doll
Hello everyone. I hope you'll are doing good and enjoying mental health. I am back with another project of mine. Which is totally made by me. The pattern is mine. I did not followed any toturial or anything so I am very proud of myself.
So one of my friend's messaged me few days before sharing a picture of a cute doll and asking me if I can make it or not. I was not confident at first but then I took the chance and accepted the challenge. Actually she wanted it for her nephew which is newborn. I have made alot of amugrumis till now and I was very confident that I can make it for sure. For reference this was the doll she asked me to made.
I started with the legs. I made 20 rounds at first but then It seemed to be little then I increased them and did 30 rounds for the legs. After that I thought the lega are complete but then I realised that the upper part of legs should be thick so I made 5 more rounds to make them thick after that I made the belly.
I also made the belly very fat so that the clothes will look good on fat belly but the body was looking very deformed so I opened it. I open the belly and legs (the fat part). Then I started again and made the belly I thought if the legs are thin and the belly is fat it should still look good because the doll bodies are fat but again it was looking deformed so I opened it again. I was very patient. Even opening the body over and over again did not irritate me. Then I left it at that point. It was night and I thought if I tried one more time I will ruin it for sure. So when I woke up the very first thing I did was making the body. I searched for a while that how should a belly look like. Then I realised that the dolls have curve body shape then I realised how wrong I was and I should have seen the base body of doll before trying over and over again.
Then I figured out the body problem and made it in the correct way. I stuffed it alot like alot. I added stuffing after every round. It was stiff at that point. Then I made the arms and attached it with the body. I made the ends of arms little puffy. After that I made the face of doll. The face was very big. I made approximately 10 rounds of Inc then 15 rounds of only sc and then I made the decreases. So the face was huge and time consuming. My energy was draining and i was regretting the decision of taking the order. But I did not have option to back down at that moment so I kept going.
After completing the face and adding tons of stuffing. It was finally complete. The body was compete and I was relieved. Then comes the frock part. I have never made doll cloths before so I had no idea how to make one. So I use youtube for my help. But my doll was customised and the size was not regular. So to ny unfortunate I could not find any relatable pattern. But then I thought I should look for a pattern and then I can free style it. So I watched a pattern and then I customised it accordingly. I made the sleeve part and then I put it on the doll so that it fit the doll. I was adjusting the size. It was turning beautiful. I was very happy. Then after 3 rounds the flare of frock seemed less to me so I added more Inc to make it wider. At the end I made Dec so that it sits on the body of doll.
Then I made the hairband and bow. I was very frustrated that I could not bring myself to make the ears. But as u had to deliever the order today I bring myself somehow to make the ears. When the ears were complete I attached them with the body. At the end I did the face embroidery. As I am expert in face embroidery so it took me very less time to make the eyes etc. And it was complete after that. I was very happy after seeing the final look of my project. Everyone told me that it look unreal . It was exactly like the picture that my friend provided. So I took the doll to my university and my friends liked it alot. I did the photoshoot and here are some final pictures.
I learnt alot of things during this project. Like patience and self confidence. I will definitely take orders in future.
See you again 🎀❤️.
Take care 🥰❣️.
Bye bye ❤️🥰❣️.
