Three Tune Tuesday #201

I cant stop admiring this track, for me it is a glimpse of an old days classic Radiohead, all the dark drama and the nerve included.

I can't stop admiring this track. In fact, it's the second of two tracks from the AMSP album that touch me. When the latest album released includes 100% light, watercolor tracks diluted with water or some other incomprehensible substance - muzak - I don't welcome it, and I don't share the general delight. I don't need this kind of Radiohead, even if for the musicians themselves it is serious and for a long time and expresses their real (meaning: current) aesthetic position and preferences, that point on the evolutionary curve where the band has found itself at the moment. So, among the majority of such tracks, 'full stop' is a rare exception. Thom Yorke simply had to repeat 25 times in a row that "the truth will crush you" - to get a successful success.

You may remember how Radiohead blew up the music business in 2007 by releasing their long-awaited new album 'In Rainbows' for free = "pay us whatever you decide it's worth!" (well - not really). I have a lot of great memories associated with that record, and a few bad ones as well (dialectics!). One of the dark spots was, that my absolute favorite tune, which I was really looking forward to, was ditched off the record - it was included onto a bonus disc with several other tracks that didn't find a place in the main tracklist. (These musicians are always very picky in this certain question.) It's also a fairly rare number to play at concerts. Still its one of my absolute favorite Radiohead songs. What is it about? You tell me! I honestly don't know... is it about a feeling of being out of place, not fitting into society? a crisis of an old person "at the age of survival"?
