It's ZapFicFriday! The challenge is to write a complete story with exactly 50 words using the prompt "dread." It's a fun exercise, why not give it a go yourself?

When the battalion returned to the castle after a long and hard fought battle, the King tried everything to change their dreadful mood. They couldn't understand why he ordered such atrocities and why their comrades had to die for his fragile ego. Angry and sullen, they ended his pointless reign.
