Noble Words : Cut off the dead wood !

A backstabber's actions can be a long-term pattern that causes significant damage, potentially leading to a complete ruin of our career. They appear to be friendly, but their deceit creates a toxic environment. The danger lies in their hidden nature; they can act friendly while secretly working against us, often using privileged information to damage us when we least expect it. The ancient Sanskrit has following words of caution for these kind of people :

अरिपक्षाश्रिते मित्रे मर्मवेदिप्रियंवदे |

विश्वासो नैव कर्तव्यः यदि साक्षाद्वृहस्पतिः ||

Aripakshaashrite mire marmavedi priyamvade.
vishvaaso naiva kartavyh yadi saakshaadvruhaspatih.

Aripakshaashrite = Ari + paksha + aashrite.
Ari = enemy.
Paksha = side.
Aashrite = dependent on.
Mitre = a friend.
Marmavedi = knowing the weak points. Priyamvade = speaking favourably.
Vishvaaso = confidence.
Naiva = not at all.
Kartavyah = done.
Yadi = even if.
Saakshaadvruhaspatih = saakshaat + vruhaspatih.
Saakshaat = in person.
Vruhaspatih = the high priest of Gods.

i.e. If any soft-spoken friend of yours is aware of your secrets but is dependent on your enemy, then never trust him, even if he is Devguru Brihaspati in person.

Dev Guru Brihaspati, also known as Jupiter in Vedic astrology. He is the preceptor of the gods, guiding them with his wisdom and knowledge. Prompting a sign of alert for all such people who may deceit yus be disclosing the secret to other. It is advisable not to be open with everyone or remain content with the spoken words that may harm us. If our very soft spoken friend who is well aware of our secrets is dependent upon your enemy for his subsistence, then such friend may create danger in life. Better be aware and alert of such people around.
