Our intent should always be to live a progressive life. Focusing on living a progressive life is motivated by the human desire for personal fulfillment, positive relationships, and the betterment of society. A progressive life means continuously evolving and improving, rather than staying stagnant. This drive can be pursued through personal development, open-mindedness and continous learning. To achieve success in life progressively improving day by day is important. However the success depends upon many factors. Our Sanskrit has highlighted certain things that may hamper the growth of an individual's.

अलसो मन्दबुद्धिश्च सुखी च व्याधिपीडितः |

निद्रालुः कामुकश्चैव षडेते शास्त्रवर्जिताः ||

Alaso mandabuddhishcha sukhee cha vyaadhipeeditah.
Nidraaluh kaamukashchaiva shadete shaastravarjitaah.

Alaso = lazy.
Mandabuddhishcha = Mandabuddhih + cha.
Mandabuddhih = foolish, dull witted.
Cha = and.
Sukhee = a person who loves pleasure.
Vyaadhi = disease.
Peeditah = suffering from.
Nidraaluh = sleepy, drowsy.
Kaamukashchaiva = Kaamukah + ch + aiva. Kaamukah = over indulgent in sexual matters.
Aiva = really.
Shaastra = scriptures.
Varjitaah = avoided, abandoned.

i.e. It is said in the religious scriptures that one should not have contact with these six types of people: lazy, dull-witted (foolish), always in the mood for enjoyment, suffering from diseases, fond of sleep, and lustful.

Negatives vibes should always be avoided in life. Negativity affects us in many ways and the above individuals are cause of negativity. They always carry negative vibes that affect people's approach towards growth. This is what conveyed in the above lines.
