Hardcore Townsmen! #40 Maintenance & Repairs

English

Hello Hive Gamers! Today I bring you the 40th chapter of my hardcore Townsmen run. While my builder townnies were busy putting the finishing touches on the new southern expansion, I decided to focus my personal attention on a less glamorous but utterly crucial task: collecting taxes and repairing a massive batch of damaged buildings.

Actually, on paper, maintenance sounds like a simple chore, but in practice, you literally have to review structures building by building, tapping the interface to check their condition and pay for the repairs. Normally, basic buildings only cost a few Talers to fix depending on how battered they are. However, because I have upgraded several of my key structures to level 2 now, footing the repair bill requires advanced materials like stone, tools, and wooden planks.

In addition to managing the repairs, I went around collecting a huge pile of accumulated taxes from the residential houses. To boost my capital even further, I welcomed the traveling merchant and sold him a massive stockpile of tailored garments produced locally. Unfortunately, I could not hoard the profits; I had to reinvest almost all of that gold into buying hops, wheat, and flour, since those essential agricultural goods cannot be produced natively in our frozen climate.

Furthermore, I managed to finish repairing dozens of buildings, some of which were even starting to catch fire spontaneously due to severe lack of maintenance. The harsh reality of this map is that its freezing theme and relentless blizzards impose a persistent negative passive effect that gradually wears down houses, market plazas, warehouses, and everything else in between.

Nevertheless, the immediate maintenance task is finally completed, and the infrastructure is safe for now. I know this won't be a permanent fix because the weather will keep damaging the settlement, so I will have to schedule more systematic repair runs very soon. For now, the city looks polished, the economy is stable, and we are ready for the next phase of growth.
