An Opinion

Some of you might not agree with what I have to say, but I am of the opinion that long distance relationship is the kind of relationship that mostly only benefits one person, the person that provides financial assistance, especially the kind of long distance relationship being practiced over here.

Before we jump into an argument, I'd like to point out that I never specified the gender providing the financial assistance, as it could be either a man or a woman.

Now if you're wondering why or how I came to this conclusion. I have a friend who has been in a long distance relationship with a lady that lives in a different state, whom he has never met in person, a relationship that recently ended.

For the entirety of the eleven months that they were together, he was always on call with her almost every night, as that was the time they both were available to be on call, and they would spend hours, sometimes even talking as far as 3am in the morning.

And according to this friend, during the course of their relationship, he has had to send her money on multiple occasions for different reasons. It could be for her feeding or for a random problem that she had, and all this while, all he got in return was constant phone calls and a heartbreak at the end of it all.

Don't get me wrong, I know that not all long distance relationships end this way, as some of them end up leading to something serious, but I feel that if a study was carried out on this issue, we'd see that the majority of these relationships end up going nowhere and some of them would even end just like the one of my friend did, without them getting to meet in person, not even once.
