I made an A-line gown for my favourite aunt.

Hello everyone needleworkmonday@needleworkmonday community and happy new week to you all.
I am glad for the new week, and i am wishing for a fruitful and less stressful week.

The weekend was so hectic for me,i felt stressed but the good news is that i felt relieved and satisfied after seeing the happiness in my aunt's face.
On Thursday last week,my aunt stopped by my place and told me that she would love me to sew something nice for her,she wanted to wear it on first Sunday of this month.
My hands were full with delivery yet i couldn't turn her down.
Well, she's my favourite aunty and i still feel indepted to her for all the sacrifices she has done for me,i know i would rush at any opportunity to make her happy.
And the opportunity presented itself again, though i was busy but i carefully created time to sew her fabric.

On Friday evening i took her fabric, placed her measurements and started cutting out the fabric and the lining.
I usually do this when the work load is much,i can cut out some fabrics and keep and sew it the next day

  • Materials i used were:
  • Ankara fabric
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Velvet bais
  • Black sample lace

So she wanted an A-line gown and i knew it will fit her perfectly well because she is a tall woman.
So i took her measurements

I folded the fabric into two,i took her full length measurements and bending allowance,i cut out the front part of it first, then i cut out the back side of it with zip allowance.

For the front part,i took a black colour lace fabric and a black velvet bais and i designed the font part of it

And after that i couldn't fixed the hand because i was already tired and exhausted.
From the image below that's how i left it till Saturday

Well on Saturday morning i had to finish up on time because i knew she was coming for her gown .
So i cut out the hand and i fixed it ,i still used the black lace to design it.

I joined everything together, fixed the zip and the gown was ready.

She came later in the evening to pick her gown and the excited on her face was fulfilling.
I am sure she rocked her gown happily to church on Sunday.

Thank you so much for going through my post.
