Welcome back post, my ukara fabric design.
Hello hivers, its been awhile since I made a post because of my busy schedule, but I'm back to continue from where i stopped.
I really regret stopping in the first place,i hope to get along with you guys and you like my art too.
So I'm going to be reposting my last work which i wasn't able to show the finished work before my break.
Its a fabric design i did myself, let me do a little reintroduction, I'm a textile designer,i design fabrics,i weave, I'm into macrame, string art, painting, fabric printing and lots more.
So this particular work was done last year during my internship, the designs/motifs i used are igbo related,i explained them in my previous posts, each of those motifs signify something to the igbo culture in Nigeria.
Firstly, I got my fabric, there's a particular fabric we use for this because it creates a better effect than other fabrics,i cut out 2yrds which is the size I wanted to use, then I washed off the starch.
After the fabric had dried I started drawing lines for demarcation then I drew the motifs on it with my hot wax and tjanting,i didn't draw on all of the fabric cause i wanted to make it a two colour design, so after drawing on the white plain fabric.
i dyed it in biro blue dye and spread it to go through oxidation process and dry so i can wax the first colour which is biro blue
After drying i started drawing the motifs in the blue empty boxes and when i was done. It was ready for the last dyeing process. which the color i used was black dye to be able to contrast well with the biro blue giving it a good color combination
Now After dyeing in black, this is the out come .
I would really appreciate your upvotes and comments.
Thank you 😊.
