Words About Childhood

Before, before thinking that life is complicated, before thinking about existential crises derived from the questions of the origin of life or which is the path I should take, long before thinking about the economy or the ways to acquire a house, a business and its assets to support the family. When innocence reigned in our being, I believe that happiness was full and absolute.

We didn't like going to school, reading, writing, copying and dictating textbooks was tedious and too long for our age (of course now I see it as a fundamental education for children), we looked forward to the sound of the dismissal bell to go home to hug our grandparents or be greeted by our parents, doing homework was the only complicated part of our day. Playing with our friends was the best part of our day.

Going out to play soccer from 4 o'clock in the afternoon onwards, making a fuss, running around, getting excited no matter what, having fun without worries, without having to think about tomorrow. In the evenings we liked to go out and talk at the door of someone's house.
On the most annoying nights we would play games like the handkerchief which consisted of a referee calling out a number between one and five. I remember once I was on a team with my cousin and a few others, the tedious referee called the number one, she and her opponent ran out to grab the handkerchief, her opponent grabbed it first but that was not the end (in the handkerchief game if your opponent grabs the handkerchief you have to touch it before it reaches the point from where it was initially before you grab the handkerchief) she chased him and inadvertently pushed him so hard that he ended up on the ground, she won.

That event remained as a laugh-out-loud anecdote, of course nothing bad happened to the child, but things like that make me nostalgic, some of us used to fantasize about how we would be as adults without imagining that life would have other plans. We enjoyed a peaceful and happy childhood, we still remember it and talk about it when we have the chance to be together.

This is the thought I have when remembering a part of my childhood, but we are not all the same please share with me your thoughts about yours.
