Mt Tara - Viewpoints

Tara (pronounced [târa]) is a mountain located in western Serbia. It is part of Dinaric Alps and stands at 1,000 to 1,590 m (3,280 to 5,220 ft) above sea level. The mountain's slopes are clad in dense forests with numerous high-altitude clearings and meadows, steep cliffs, deep ravines carved by the nearby Drina River and many karst, or limestone caves.

Tara is ideal for hiking and to explore all the hidden places and benefits of this mountain. There are over 20 marked hiking trails on Tara. Each of these trails is unique and will take you to special and secluded corners and wide viewpoints. The total length of the trail is over a hundred kilometers.

Viewpoint "Banjska stena"

"Banjska stena" is a popular site, with a panorama of the Drina river canyon and Perucac Lake. The forest road goes to the viewpoint and is a perfect foot or bicycle path equipped with wooden benches and information boards.

Viewpoint "Crnjeskovo"

Crnjeskovo viewpoint is in the area of "Kaludjerske Bare". From the center footpath follows the gravel road approximately 3 km and then through forest you will reach the viewpoint. The trail is easy and well marked. You have a view to the "Sokolina", "Rača Gorge", "Rača monastery", "Bajina Bašta" and the Drina valley.

Viewpoint "Sjenič"

Sjenič viewpoint, with its 12-metre watchtower, made only for those who fearlessly conquer the highest peaks and won’t settle for anything less.

Viewpoint "Bijeliška stena"

"Bilješka stena" viewpoint is located about 6 km north of Predov Krst. From NP Tara administration office at Predov Krst educational trail follows the forest road and takes you to this site. Viewpoint is a habitat to the Serbian spruce, one of the most important species of the park, also there are centuries-old pines, mixed forests of deciduous and conifer trees and characteristic canyon vegetation.

Viewpoint "Osluša"

Viewpoint Osluša with it`s cafe offers a rest after a long hiking day. Also this view point is used as a paragliding starting point.

Viewpoint "Perućac"

This is a just a parking place with incredible view.
