Making Fresh Spring Rolls π―
- Hello from Thailand, everyone! π₯°.....What do you normally eat for breakfast, friends?...For a light breakfast today, I made Fresh Spring Rolls using ingredients I had in the kitchen. I wrapped the fillings in rice paper and served them with a seafood dipping sauce that has a leading sour taste, followed by spicy, sweet, and slightly salty flavors. They pair together perfectly and feel very refreshing. There's no fixed recipe for this dish; can use a variety of vegetables and meats. Today, I used shrimp and also added some sausage. It's very easy to make.
π₯¬ Ingredients
- 10 Vietnamese rice paper sheets
- 5 fresh shrimp
- 3 pieces of sausage
- 2 cucumbers, julienned
- 1/2 carrot, julienned
- 1 handful of green oak lettuce
- Coriander leaves and cilantro
π« Instructions
Start by preparing the spring roll fillings.
- Begin with the shrimp: wash them thoroughly, remove the heads, then blanch them in boiling water for about 1 minute. Transfer them to ice-cold water, pat dry, peel off the shells, devein by cutting along the back, and slice each shrimp in half lengthwise. Set aside.
- Prepare the sausage by blanching it in boiling water, then transferring it to cold water. Pat it dry and cut it into long strips.
Now, let's wrap the spring rolls.
- Prepare a flat plate or use a cutting board, wetting it slightly with water to prevent the rice paper from sticking. Dip a sheet of Vietnamese rice paper in water until just softened, then place it on the plate.
- Place a green oak lettuce leaf near the edge of the rice paper, slightly overhanging. Add coriander and cilantro leaves, followed by the julienned carrot and cucumber.
- Place the sausage strips on the vegetables, then roll the rice paper over once to enclose them.
- Place the halved shrimp on the remaining exposed rice paper.
- Then continue rolling until completely sealed.
- Cut the spring roll in half. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used.
Serving
Arrange the fresh spring rolls on a plate and serve with seafood dipping sauce.
It's very fresh and delicious! π The thin, soft rice paper wraps around the crispy, brightly colored vegetables, sweet shrimp, and savory sausage perfectly.
- It pairs wonderfully with the bold, tangy, spicy, sweet, and salty flavors of the seafood dipping sauce. Eating it feels refreshing and energizing, perfect for the morning. Thanks for visiting π₯°π₯°
