I come back today with a little perspective exercise that I made - perspective is a really important part in drawing, and if I can say that I understand mostly of the theorie (excepted for how to draw a perfect cube and not a parralelipiped shape, it still remains a mystery for me), the practice is still a bit tough, as it asks to be very precise (and I'm used to do too little sketchs 😅) and that my oval shapes are a nightmare.
But when I need to trace box shapes or this kind of things it's more easy.

This time I choosed to reproduce the phone charger that was next to me.

Process

I like to start by drawing the object freehand to get an idea of what the perspective would be. Starting the drawing by intuitive perspective helps me to reproduce the same perspective that I see in reality.
Indeed, if I try to start by placing the vanishing points I know from experience that I'm very lucky to have a completely different perspective than the one I want.

I then trace the main shapes that follow the vanishing points that I imagined from the previous sketch. I didn't trace them on the paper because it's out of the paper. So I made it approximate. The thing that frustrates me a lot in perspective is the fact that unless we do a very distorted perspective, most of the time you will find your vanishing points out of the paper and it is not precise for tracing our forms.

After observing the object, I noticed that the front is smaller than the back, so I continued the lines of the back and then traced a smaller shape in the front (helped by the centre found by the diagonals).

Then I finished my drawing by alternating measured and intuitive perspective.
