Picokernel Witness update

My fellow Steemians,

I have been attending school so it is rather tough for me to write content frequently. With that being said I would like to thank you for reading my first Witness Update. I will do these monthly unless I get a higher ranking position on the witness list where I am required to be more responsible about my updates. With that being said, I did accomplish a lot since you voted me for witness about 3 weeks ago.

I will use Hive account@jesta's template for these witness updates as it is a straightforward and clear structure.

Accomplished the week of 2016-09-23

• Upgraded my infrastructure to a higher bandwidth, more ram, and better location
• Continued to maintain a bounty on an open source GPU miner.
• Created custom price feed that automatically adjusts the discount without me needing to touch it.
• Released a tool called JEDI to aid in the development of a json_metadata standard
• Released a tool called Steem Wallet which is used to protect private keys and spend Steem safely
• Helped users set up their witnesses and cleared up misinformation in various chat rooms and SteemSpeak in particular.
• Applied for a job at steemit.com as a blockchain developer :)

Upcoming projects/goals

• Release a WordPress-plugin that allows for Steem integration.
• Continue to clear up miscommunication
• Work on getting my first pull request accepted into Steem core or Steemit.com
• Update squeek.io to a new version

Thoughts from this month

I have seen a lot of sadness and despair from Steem users this month. I think a lot of users are affected by the price and the distribution of wealth. I think the bad emotions are not misplaced either. We as a community are in a valley right now. I truly do believe that it gets better from here out. We have new features coming out every day, the SBD is returning to $1 parity, and new tools are coming out every day!

In terms of the politics of Steem I am very happy to see witnesses using the modified price feeds! This means that you guys are using the tools available to you to return SBD to $1 parity. Doing so will drive up demand for SBD too I believe. It's also nice to see some suggestions from everybody. Everybody has got ideas it seems. Some are good and most are bad but at least we have ideas! I am in particular excited for socialized voting pools as proposed by Ned. I think people will be more excited to vote if they are in a pool, and we will have better curation as well.
