Weekend, Finally
It’s the weekend now, and honestly, this is the day I’ve been waiting for. After a long week of work, it feels good to finally breathe and temporarily forget about deadlines, messages, and the pressure that slowly builds up without me noticing.
There’s something special about that first moment of freedom, when you wake up and remember you don’t have to rush. Work can really take its toll, and I’ve learned that the weekend isn’t just “free time.” It’s recovery time. It’s the space where I get to be myself again, not just the version of me that’s trying to keep up.
The funny part is I actually have too many things planned. So many ideas, so many things I want to do, and suddenly the weekend feels too short to hold all of them. And that’s where the frustration kicks in, because choosing what to focus on can feel like I’m letting other plans down.
But maybe that’s the point. Maybe weekends aren’t about doing everything. Maybe it’s about doing what matters most right now. The things that make me feel lighter, more excited, more alive. The rest can wait. I don’t need a perfect list, I just need a good one.
As Anne Lamott said, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” And I’m taking that seriously this weekend.
Hopefully, I’ll end these next two days feeling rested, fulfilled, and ready to face another weekone good choice at a time.
