Traveling to Sabang

Sabang region will be developed as the center of marine tourism. Sabang is expected to be the entrance of the national marine tourism with the utilization of port services, which is particularly aims to promote other destinations in Indonesia.

These days, Sabang has become a national tourist destination and is preparing to be an international tourist destination. Underwater natural wealth is the main attraction of Pulau Weh. The Island beautiful seashore, especially around Iboih and Gapang is full of activities such as snorkeling and diving which being done by domestic and foreign tourists on daily basis. In addition overland tourim also developed which aimed to introduce the history and culture of local communities to the International world. Japanese occupation during World War II has helped in enriching the tourism potential of Sabang, for example Japanese bunker spread almost throughout mainland of Sabang.

Moreover, with the rich of islamic history it is known as the Land of 44 Aulia (Saints in islamic context), marked with relics such as tombs, Batu Gendang, and the names of the region which is adopted from the name of the Aulia. Interestingly, Sabang is also presenting cultural attractions, such as the hospitality of local residents and cultural values in their daily life.

Tourism sectors that will be developed is the implementation of the cooperation between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand's for economic growth sectors in taking advantage of tourism sector.
