WIP: Rag Rug Out Of Old Jeans
Hello friends! I've got a work in progress this week. I am making my very first rag rug out of old jeans that have been in my fabric stash for years. :)
First, I cut the jeans into strips. I am spiraling up one leg, across the bottom, and down the other leg.
Them I am braiding those strips into a simple plait like I do to my hair. This part takes a really long time, because I am constantly untangling the balls of fabric while I work.
Then I coil the braids around into a circle, and sew them in place.
this photo is me just testing how big the first plait of three pairs of jeans would be before I sewed it. catnip banana for scale

Takes
A While.

Here is how big the first section was once the sewing was done:
Now, cutting up more jeans!
And I am back to plaiting again.
My bedroom carpet (where I'm working) is covered in threads and scraps, lol. Not bothering to carpet sweep it until I'm done. ๐
I'm happy with how it's turning out so far. It's nice and thick and heavy and feels nice. ๐ I am not sure how long the final project will take me. We'll see how far I get by next week and how many pairs of jeans I used! :)
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful week!
