Car alarms might work if you live in a suburban or rural area, where people can look out their windows and tell which car is going off, but when there are 200 cars on the block, not so much. All you're doing is driving your neighbors crazy. Some car thief could set off the alarm and keep going, turning off the alarm themselves after ten minutes, and no one would blink or find anything amiss because the damn things are going off for longer than that every other day, anyway, just because someone bumped into it or a truck rumbled by. If you can't see or hear your car from whatever high rise you are going into, maaaaaaaybe leave the car alarm off. The only person calling the cops is the person calling in a noise complaint on the car that's been going off for the past hour. Sankyuu.
