WHAT DID I CROCHET?🧶 #24

Hi, needleworkers! Yesterday was another day of crocheting a small item that caught my eye on the internet. I saw a woman make orange and lime coasters and it was so eye-catching that I decided to make one myself, but not make them as coasters — as bookmarks instead😊. You know how you put a slice of lime or lemon on the rim of your glass? That was the idea, for the bookmark to look like that.

For the lime bookmark, I needed lemon/neon yellow, light green, and white. Unfortunately, I didn’t have lemon yarn so I had to only make the orange bookmark because I had white, yellow, and orange for it.

I fished out my 3mm hook and got started. I began with the white yarn. I did a magic ring, then crocheted 8 single crochets in the ring.

For round 2, I changed to the yellow yarn, did 1 single crochet and chained 1 eight times till I reached the end of the row. At the end of the row, I had 16 stitches.

Round 3 to 5 were all done with the yellow yarn. For round 3, I did 1 increase, which is 2 single crochets in one stitch, then chained 1 and skipped the next stitch till I reached the end of the row. I had 24 stitches at the end of that round.

Round 4 was 1 single crochet, increase, then chain 1 to arrive at 32 stitches. Note that anytime I chain 1, I skip the next stitch.

For round 5, I did 1 inc, 2 single crochets in the next two stitches, then chained 1. At the end of round 5, I had 40 stitches.

At this point, I changed to the white yarn for round 6. I crocheted round 6 by doing 4 single crochets in the first four stitches, then I did an increase in the next stitch which is the chain space of the previous round (where I chained 1). That amounted to 48 stitches at the end of the round.

Then, I changed yarn to the orange for the last round. I crocheted this last round by doing 2 single crochets, doing an increase in the next stitch, and doing 3 single crochet till I got to the end of the row.

At this point, I had just one more step to complete my bookmark. This is what the work looked like.

The last step was to add the lines. I needed to do this with the white yarn. Starting from round 1, I slip stitched into each chain one space of each round with the white yarn I held underneath. This formed 1 line, so I proceeded to do the others till I had the 8 of them complete. Befire I finished off the yarn, this is what I had.

After finishing off the yarn, sewing in all the ends, my slice of orange bookmark was complete!

😍Isn’t it the cutest thing? Why wouldn’t anyone want it? I’m definitely going to get neon yarn so I can make a slice of lime bookmark as well.
