Moving all crypto to HIVE and Splinterlands

Hi All!

My name is Peter, a .NET lead developer from Hungary.

At the end of 2025, I decided to move all of my crypto investments to the HIVE blockchain. I created this account to separate these funds from the others. In this introductory article, I would like to share my story and my investment strategy for the future.

About me

I met with Splinterlands and the HIVE blockchain when I started to play the game in 2021 under the szobipetya@szobipetya account. I was never a serious player, just one of the recreational ones. Currently, I'm playing in the Wild League (mainly in the Diamond League, sometimes in the Champion) with the help of XBOT and some rentals. If I have some free time, I play a few matches in Modern.

Besides the game, I also started trading with cards. A few years ago, I had an idea and started developing SplinterTrends. It's a hobby project that tracks card price changes and shows some trends. I primarily created it for myself to make better trading decisions, but later I made it public for the community. Last year, I introduced my utility and supportive token, TRENDZ.

You can read more about the project here: splintertrends@splintertrends.

Next to Splinterlands, I have some experience and investments in other HIVE projects:

E.g.

Moving completely to HIVE

At the end of last year, I decided to move all of my crypto investments to the HIVE blockchain. I didn't want to put all of it into just HIVE because of the price volatility. So I created a portfolio that seems to be more stable in the long term.

Everything discussed here is not a financial advisory, just an experience

1st step: Withdrawing everything from Binance

It was an easy step; I converted everything to USDC, then into HIVE.

My initial HIVE balance was 23,800.397 HIVE (2,169.64 USDC)

2nd step: Determining the backbone of my HIVE Portfolio

I decided to have a fixed and a flexible part of my portfolio. The fixed part consists of the following tokens:

TokenAmountComment
HBD1000The ultimate stable coin in HIVE
SPS100,000The governance token of the Splinterlands ecosystem
DEC500,000The main transactional currency in the Splinterlands ecosystem

The remaining HIVE tokens were converted to HIVE Power (~3,300)

3rd step: Converting tokens

At first, I converted all of my HIVE to SWAP.HIVE by using Hive Engine's Deposit function (https://hive-engine.com/). Then, I converted 20% parts to the target tokens. The whole process lasted 5 days. I didn't want to convert everything at once.

HBD

I used BeeSwap to swap SWAP.HIVE to SWAP.HBD, then Hive Engine's Withdraw function. I know that there are other services (e.g., in Keychain), but I had some bad experiences in the past with converting.

SPS

I used BeeSwap to swap SWAP.HIVE to SPS, then transferred to Splinterlands.

DEC

I used BeeSwap to swap SWAP.HIVE to DEC, then transferred to Splinterlands.

HP

I converted back the remaining SWAP.HIVE to HIVE using Hive Engine's Withdraw function. This round trip caused me some loss, but initially, I didn't plan to have HIVE. I powered up on the 1st of January, because every first day is a Hive Power Up Day ๐Ÿ˜‰ (hivebuzz@hivebuzz)

4th step: Making tokens to work

I decided to have the tokens above, because they can make some income.

HBD

I staked the given HBD. Currently, it pays a 15% interest for a year

SPS

I staked the given SPS in Splinterlands. Currently, it pays a ~7% interest in SPS and VOUCHER tokens. I also delegated the tokens to my player account, so I don't have to rent SPS.

DEC

  • I transferred 100k DEC to the SPLTrader pool (https://www.spltrader.com/)
  • The remaining amount will be used for my "BECOME A MERCHANT" challenge. An article about this will come soon ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hive Power

I delegated 3300 HP to the splintertrends@splintertrends account. Hive Power offers a ~3% yearly interest. Delegating to SplinterTrends earns TRENDZ tokens, yielding a 2-digit average return.

Last step: Investing the income

I designed a flexible part for the portfolio with fixed percentages.

Every Sunday, I will check the new incomes, sell, if necessary, then split them between these items:

ItemPercentageComment
TRENDZ token25%Utility token of SplinterTrends (splintertrends@splintertrends). Has a loyalty program with SWAP.HIVE/DEC/SPS/TRENDZ token and Splinterlands Card Pack rewards
ZING/SWAP.HIVE pool25%Swap pool for the HoloZing game (holozing@holozing), which is under development. Pays ZING tokens daily, and has an APR of ~50%
SPS token25%Flexible part of SPS investment
DEC token25%Flexible part of DEC investment
