The Acorn Buddies

Good day my friends and community. How is your day going? Feeling cozy as the weekend is already here?

That is what I was feeling when I made my little doodle of some acorns. I ended up turning them into this cute characters. I was not planning for them to have faces at first but when I was sketching, I thought that they just looked like they needed to smile. Maybe because of the gloomy weather outside with the rain that is not stopping. I wanted to draw something that feels warm and cheerful. I like how they look like they are hanging out just three acorns chilling on autumn with leaves for their collars and they also have caps

I started with a quick and rough sketch, just shapes really I am not going for the correct details. I am trying to figure out how they’d sit together. I didn’t worry about clean lines yet, just the proper placement for balance and maybe give them personality.

The second stage was all about colors. I picked a warm base that feels cozy and fall like. The orange and cream tones remind me of the vibrant pumpkin color, and the green acorn in the middle adds a bit of contrast, like he is the youngest one in the group to keep it interesting and give some personality like I said.

The outlines came after, and I kept them loose to match their playful faces. The leaves underneath became their collars because they are characters after all. Little lads with proper outfit. It’s a simple drawing, I am not forcing myself to create I am just going with my mood and feeling and see how it makes me smile when I look at it. Sometimes you just need to draw something that doesn’t need to be too serious.

I think they look like ready for the Halloween hahaha. THanks for reading and enjoy your weekend.
