The step by step process of cutting and sewing of a corset gathers gown.
Hello needlework.
Happy and blessed needleworkmonday and happy new week to you all of my friends in the community, how are you all doing today, hope everything goes perfectly well, so I'm here to share with you the step by step process of cutting and sewing of a corset gathers gown for my client.
So my client came with this beautiful Akara fabric and she needed a very busy dress to wear and attend her sister's child dedication, she used her phone and started searching for the online so she came across this style and she picked it, well we all know that a tailor give his or her client what she needed, so since she said she's okay with the style who I'm I to say no, i like the style but it's too open, so i went and bought all the necessary sewing materials needed then i start the work immediately.
So i started by using the brown pepper to draft the upper cup part just to check how the upper ide will look like because it's too off, after finishing drafting it i then fold the black material by two and i took the half length measurement of the dress which is from her shoulder to her waste and i make the side slanting then i took the burst measurements, after that just measured out 1.5 inch for the burst middle point space then i placed the cup on it from the place i marked 1.5 inch then i draw the cup on it and i cut it out, so for the body i added 3 extra inches for sewing allowance.
Finishing with the cutting i then placed the cup on the main black material and stitched it down because there i didnt have enough lining and my client asked me to used my lining and turned it for her then i cut out the facing and turned the upper part properly.
After that i cut the ankara fabric for the gathers, i firstly used the lining and cut an A cut for the down part gathers joining, i just joined the first down gathers with the A cut so i joined the second gathers from the waste part down , then i closed the back side and stopped at the zipper point
Then i cut out the two side sleeves and put an elastic at the down hem and the upper side of the sleeve and the zipper to it.
So here s the outcome of it.
I was so excited for the outcome being successful because the dress was so stressful especially the corset part, so ot came out as my client wanted, she was so excited also because she always like an open dress, how do see it, i hope you like it.
Thank you so much for reading through.
