Peerplays Blockchain MAINNET 1.5.16 is Now Available

We are proud to announce that the Peerplays blockchain MAINNET release 1.5.16 is now available.

This release represents a significant milestone in our roadmap and mission to humanize the blockchain experience. The Mainnet comes with significant improvements to the stability, versatility, and experience of users.

This is a Hardfork release with a Hardfork date 21-December 2021, 00:00:00 UTC. The release details are available here https://github.com/peerplays-network/peerplays/releases/tag/1.5.16

We recommend all Mainnet Witnesses and Bitcoin SON operators to upgrade.

Peerplays Mainnet

A Mainnet is where actual-value transactions occur on the distributed ledger in full capacity. The transactions are broadcasted, verified, and recorded on the blockchain.

A Mainnet means that a blockchain is independent and running with its own protocol and technology rather than being built or running on top of another network like Ethereum, Solana, or Binance Smart Chain.

There are plenty of enhancements with this release. There are now SONs for the HIVE blockchain and many fixed bugs for the SON Bitcoin network.

Additionally, Peerplays offerings have a new environment to run on. Bitcoin SONs, HIVE SONs, a faucet using an easy-to-deploy Docker-based environment are also provided in this release. The codebase with instructions are here.

MEMO Functionality, Bitcoin SONs Configuration Changes

There are a number of features with this release. Among them is the MEMO functionality. Previously, all the messages were encrypted. Now, the messages will be encrypted if there’s a # in front of them.

The second change worth drawing attention to is that Bitcoin SONs configuration will now also require the Hive SONs related configuration details.
