Mar Estrellado/Starry Sea
"Hello everyone in the community! It is a pleasure to share my latest creation with you. As an artist, I have always been fascinated by the connection between the cosmos and our earthly nature; there is something deeply peaceful about watching the stars by the sea. Today, I want to show you how I transformed that inspiration into an oil canvas, sharing not only the final result but also part of the technical process and the emotions I poured into every brushstroke. I hope you enjoy this visual journey as much as I enjoyed painting it.
My main goal with this piece was to capture the magic and vastness of a perfect night on the coast, where the sky merges with the sea in a cosmic embrace.
To achieve this, I used a meticulous, layered painting technique. I began by working on the galaxy using artist-grade oils. I first applied base layers of deep blues, ultramarine, and cerulean. Then, using a splattering technique, I created the field of finer stars. The luminous core of the Milky Way was built by glazing translucent layers of warm whites and pale yellows, which were softly blended to create that ethereal, nebulous effect you see. For the brighter stars and meteors, I used a very fine detail brush, applying small touches of pure color.
For the ocean and the beach, I wanted the galaxy’s light to be reflected. I painted the waves on the horizon with darker tones to provide depth, and as they approach the shore, I incorporated titanium whites and subtle turquoise touches to give them movement and freshness. The sand is worked with a mixture of sienna and ochre tones, with small textured details to make it feel palpable. The glow on the shoreline is a direct reflection of the galaxy's center, unifying both parts of the composition.
This is a work filled with peace, and I hope that when you view it, you feel transported to that magical moment under the stars. Thank you for supporting my art!
