[Retrogaming] Chpt 4 / Story 2: Up on the Rooftop! | Warioland II (Game Boy Color)
My 3Speaking Today
Hey, what's up, players! I am once again with you in this wonderful Hive Gaming community, and it truly pleases me very much to bring you another one of my Warioland II gameplays, where we will continue in chapter 4 titled 'In Town', in which we will be moving through urban areas belonging to this wonderful Warioland universe. And well, in this Story 2 we will be facing the challenge of reaching the very top of a gigantic building, which is heavily guarded by members of the Black Sugar Gang, you know, those responsible for the robbery of Wario's castle, who will be sabotaging our ascent through this enormous building. We also find the enormous challenge of completing the level in a decent time, since the main obstacle in this level is that the enemies' attacks combined with the constant failures on the various platforms of the building will often cause us to fall and have to make our way back up to the top all over again.
Curious New Enemies. It is truly very charming on the part of this game to see how as we advance, new enemies keep appearing, whether natural ones, that is to say belonging to or native to the different levels through which we are moving, and others that simply belong to the Black Sugar Gang. In this level presented in this Story 2 we would not find an exception to this rule. For example, in this level some new enemies appeared known as the 'Gaugau', which we can see for the first time in the gameplay at around minute 01:00, and who we can describe as a sort of pirate wolves that throw bottles at Wario from the windows the moment they spot him. It is worth noting that these bottle throws tend to cause us enormous setbacks as they send us flying backwards with great force, causing us to fall in addition to making us lose coins from our loot. We can neutralize them by touching them or eliminating them directly using our charge attack.
The Interior of the Apartments. In this level we will also have the opportunity to move through the interior of several apartments that will be accessible through some large open windows that we will find along the way, and which will in turn represent a transition within the level itself. Said apartment interiors in this level have a fantastic design, with the atmosphere truly feeling like it quickly changes from an open one to a closed one. Furthermore, in each apartment interior we will come across all kinds of Black Sugar Gang enemies and we will also have to solve some small puzzles in order to get out and continue advancing towards the top of the building.
A Nintendo Easter Egg. Upon reaching the top of the building, as we can see starting from minute 07:40, we come across an interesting Easter Egg related to Nintendo, as it turns out that the building has the word 'Nintendo' inscribed on its highest part. We can therefore assume that this building makes an allusion to the great Nintendo building in Japan, in whose letters the entrance to the minigame room was located in order to obtain the additional treasure of the level, which by the way we managed to win after several attempts, ha ha! As well as the final minigame to obtain another part of the final portrait 🤘😎
