Hello HIVER's !

With @offchain-lux I made a tutorial to help people onboard on HIVE blockchain using KeyChain, here is the details below :)

But first, why would you use Hive? Ok, if you are reading this I assume, you already know... but anyway, this might be a good reminder!

To create an account on HIVE, there is two method, alone or with a friend !

First with a friend:

Secondly, if you are alone:

- Let’s start on the Hive blockchain website : Signup for Hive

Here you will create a pseudo, unlike other blockchain, user address on HIVE, are easy to remember usernames.

- Seed phrase :

Many blockchains have a “seed phrase”. Hive’s equivalent is the “Master password” (sometimes called “Backup (master) password). The master password will allow you to recover your Hive Keys in case you break or lose your phone.

Very important : Do not loose your Seed Phrase !

Unlike other blockchains, Hive has an account recovery process! If you do lose your master password, your friend or the service that created your account can help you recover it! That is an unique feature in the world of blockchains.

- Wallet Keys :

There is an hierarchy of keys of decreasing authority in Hive. The owner key needs never to be “online”, it is used only for changing keys, for account recovery and other recovery operations. You can write it on a paper for instance and store it somewhere safe.

1. Owner key : The most powerful key, used for account recovery and changing other keys ;
2. Active key : Manages financial and operational transactions ;
3. Posting key : Used for social and blogging operations without compromising financial security ;
4. Memo key : Encrypts and decrypts private messages sent through the blockchain.

- Wallet Setup :

Step 1 : Choose Existing Account

Step 2 : Enter your username and active key to login into your account

Congratulations !

You are now all setup, you just need to buy HIVE tokens by asking a friend to send you some or using Binance.
