The Eye

The young woman's eye peeks out from behind a seashell. Half of her face seems broken, divided between two worlds. Her gaze questions us with a disquieting silence. "What's happening?" she asks herself. We wonder the same thing, but the answer eludes us, like a secret the sea holds in its depths.

El ojo de la joven asoma detrás de una concha marina. La mitad de su rostro parece quebrada, dividida entre dos mundos. Su mirada nos interroga con un silencio inquietante. “¿Qué está pasando?”, se pregunta a sí misma. Nosotros también lo pensamos, pero la respuesta se nos escapa, como un secreto que el mar guarda en sus profundidades.

This series of strange photographs originated from a single shot. The image is peculiar: the model is standing behind a small pane of glass covered with cling film, and a seashell is stuck to its surface. The result is unsettling, almost surreal. A strange shot, isn't it?

Esta serie de fotografías tan extrañas nació a partir de una toma directa. La imagen es peculiar: la modelo se encuentra detrás de un pequeño vidrio cubierto con un film de cocina, y sobre él descansa una concha marina adherida a su superficie. El resultado es inquietante, casi surreal. Una toma extraña, ¿verdad?

Then came the editing, done with several layers superimposed, one on top of the other.
