The bird killer was watching something.

It is a big Harrier Hawk bird of prey (Polyboroides typus).

So, let's go and see what he was watching.

A good start to the day, as we had one of those rare sunny mornings. Winter is approaching, and most days have a lot of cloud cover. The days also have low temperatures, and that's why we appreciate the clear skies with a weak sun. Mild is what they call it, as it was cold in the shade and one can only feel a bit of warmth by standing under the direct sunlight.
But I digress.

I have three species of birds in this post for you to enjoy, all taken on the same morning. Namely, the hawk, guineafowls, and the sacred ibises. Oh, also an egret. They were all enjoying the gift of a sunny morning. Except the hawk, of course, as he missed out.

Ah, so that was what the hawk was watching, and as you can see, there were no babies among the guinea fowls. If any babies were present, the hawk would have dived down to grab one of them. So, the hawk lost out.

The females were having a dust bath, while the males watched the surroundings.

And here below are the sacred ibises and an egret coming in to land.

Watch how that egret fluffs himself.

This guy was certainly digging a lot to get his midday meal.

Oops! The mud is not a pleasant medium to work in. Look how dirty he is.

I think the ibis tried to take his jacket off, but I think he should have taken it off before he started digging. Lol.

Peace in parliament.

I am so glad that the hawk didn't show us a killing this morning, as he did the other day. He will be sure to hunt successfully somewhere else. Yes, it would be exciting to get the hawk in action striking one of the babies and flying off with it, but not on this day as we were in a peaceful mood.
I think nature sensed our mood, and it was kind to us with no killings, and the birds also enjoyed the morning as you saw in the pictures. It was really a very nice morning.
Such is life.
