Dragonflies plus some surprises.
Ever so slowly I crept up to him as it was my first for the summer.
Now I will show you some macros plus another two surprises.
Stay with me and you will see some real beauties in this post.
This is a Cape Skimmer (Orthetrum julia capicola).
I switched the camera over to Macro and crept closer.
A final shot of the Skimmer with his wings in a different position.
Just a little honey bee here collecting nectar from a Lavender flower.
Right, here was the first surprise.
The elusive Yellow Presba (Syncordulia gracilis).
They fly from October to January and then their lives are over.
And another surprise!
I have never before seen two bees mating on a Lavender flower.
Just a small Dandelion flower to please your eyes.

Yes, early summer is starting to show it's beauties and soon we will have a large variety of dragonflies and butterflies again, waiting to be photographed.
We are blessed with wildlife here and this summer season I will try to get more unusual specimens than the norm.
In the 3 years that we are down here it is only the second time that I get a Presba dragonfly and the third time for the Charaxes butterflies. All of these came to sit in our garden today and every time that I see out of our study window something fluttering or landing in the garden, then I am out like a flash with my camera hehehe.
