A pale day promise.

When this sun halo shows up on a bleak morning, it's a promise of rain the next day.

Also, a great bird fight in here, as a crow escorted a hawk out of his territory.

And it's correct as we are booked for 3 days of rain from tomorrow according to the weatherman.
A new day always comes with new things if one is prepared to look for them with anticipation. We had an early charity do and afterwards, I decided to do some exploring. As usual I was not disappointed, as mother nature showed me that exciting things can also be found on a day like this.
So, then, come and see what I found.

Here was my first great find. A Harrier Hawk (Gymnogene), sitting on a streetlamp.

So I stopped the car and decided to wait for him to fly.

Still doing his preening business, but I simply continued to wait.

Boom! He took off and I took the shot too soon.

As usual, he was in crow territory and they were waiting for him.

Soon they disappeared from sight.

Now let me show you some other sights.

The blue sky formed a UFO pattern here as it was trying to break through the white sky curtain.

And last, but not least, I took this photo from our car on our way back.

Weird, ever changing sky colors today and I wonder if it has to do with the intensity of the predicted rainfall for the next 3 days. What I do know is that we are expecting some heavy rain with high-speed winds. We can only hope that it will not create great damages again. Our dams are already full and some areas that have not seen rain for 10 years are flooding now. This unexpected rainfall has made the farmers very happy, and I cannot imagine living on a farm with no rain for 10 years.

In any case, we had lots of rain these last weeks and the underground dam levels are full. The ground at the surface is also saturated, and that is why we get the high speed floods that wash entire homes away, especially in the areas below the water level mark. At times, trees are uprooted and when they come down they can create much damage when they land on a house and a car. Many people have lost out so far, but that's the way it is in the Cape of Storms.
