My scam experience and my personal security checklist

A scam is a deceptive or dishonest scheme used to trick people in giving away their money.

There are different ways scammers scam people online e.g phone calls , text message, shopping online and all.

Have you ever faced an online scam?

Yes I have once being scam on Instagram by a cloth vendor. One day few years back when my child was 3 months old i was in lagos in my sister inlaw place. I had it in mind to buy nice outfits for my baby boy before i leave lagos.
I woke up that morning, as i was scrolling on my page I came across this woman,i checked her page to see what she sells fortunately for me it was children's cloth. I screenshot the outfit I like then I send it to her chat to ask for the price. She replied few hours later and she sent me her WhatsApp number and account number.
I didnt see any trace of fake account or scam, I believed I was in the right place so I didn't think twice i transferred the money to her immediately with no doubt.
She confirmed the payment, I asked for the delivery day, and i ended the chat.

The delivery day came I texted her she said I should wait till the next day. I chatted her the next day and she didn't reply my text at that moment i started feeling bad, I started suspecting that something is going on. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't tell anyone so I won't be mocked. On the third day, I decided to drop a chat on her page on Instagram and I noticed the account has be disabled ahhhh I cried.
Since then, I said to myself that I will not order anything online anymore I will always go to the store to buy whatever I want to buy.

I was there when my mum experienced bank scam from a well known bank in Nigeria. She just opened a new account and deposit 5,000 into the account and the second day someone call her saying he works in the bank that she should send her bvn to rectify her account she told him and immediately her money was deducted.

There a lot of fake business owners online committing fraud.
the best way i protect myself from being scammed is to ignore online vendor, I don't purchase items online and i don't pick strange calls.
