The Birthday
Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: Isaiah 49:8 KJV
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16 KJV
On Luiba's fifth birthday, her father was in prison because of his faith. For days her mother had been wondering how she could make the day something special for the children who miss their father terribly. However, she had only potatoes and a small piece of bacon that she could give them. They had at least received a letter from their father.
Before the meal they gave thanks, and Luiba said the prayer: "Lord Jesus, keep our Daddy so that he is well when he comes back to us. Bless Mummy too. When Daddy was here with us, he always brought us some chocolate for our birthday. Please give us some. Amen"
Luiba's siblings started to make fun of their little sister, but their mother silenced them. Then they heard a sound at the door. Who could it be at this time? It was an old friend of the family. He told them somewhat incoherently, that he felt the urge to buy some chocolate and bring to them without knowing why. "Hurray" shouted Luiba, "Jesus has heard my prayer. Thank you, Lord Jesus!" The friend looked surprised.
Luiba's birthday story gives us consolation and hope, for it shows the power of God, who watches over those who trust Him in every detail of their lives and answers prayer. Do you have a need? Call on Him in prayer today.
