문학동네 계열사인 난다에서 내는 걸어본다 시리즈의 세번째 작품이다. 박상미 작가는 번역가로 더 알려져 있는데, 줌파 라히리의 작품을 번역한 것으로 익숙하다.

얼핏 들춰봤는데, 미술에 대한 조예가 깊은 것 같다. 알고보니 박상미 작가는 갤러리도 운영하고 있다. 뉴욕에서 여러 미술작품을 보고 느낀 것을 오랜 시간 쌓아 만든 책인 듯 하다.
