Paulina Falls

Join me as we take a visual tour of another sight from the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Paulina Falls is a double waterfall on Paulina Creek. The creek drains the two lakes that lie inside the rim of the old Newberry caldera through a low spot on the west side. It was a beautiful day so enjoy the visual feast as I tour the falls. ๐Ÿ˜€

pf-16.JPGA shot from below the falls, but first let's head back to the start of the tour.

Arriving at the first viewing platform you get an idea of the size of the falls and the approximate 80 foot drop.

A view looking up the southern channel of the creek just before it lows over the falls right below where I am standing.

pf-5.JPGA couple views of the two falls and the island section that divides the creek.

pf-9.JPGYou can start to see the difference in the ecosystems between the top of the falls and the wetter area below the falls. The picture on the left is taken as I descend into the canyon below.

pf-11.JPGAbout halfway down you get your first good glimpse of the falls.

pf-15.JPGAt the bottom you get an awe inspiring view of the falls. You also see some of the car sized boulders that have been washed from the cliffs over the millennia.

A quick video of the sights and sounds above the falls...

And the same from below the falls.
