You do have free will.

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. The society has an expectation of each and every one of us. The society expects us to do this and not do that, go here and not go here, and say this and not say that. It's more like society wants us confined to a box or limited to what we can do and not do, to what we can say and not say, and to places we can go and not go. Occasionally I feel like the society, if you let it, will limit your growth and stop you from reaching your full potential. Society has expectations of us, but those expectations do not define us, and our existence is not tied to what society wants.

One thing that can ruin an individual or limit their potential is the belief that their entire existence depends on meeting societal expectations; when they think their life means nothing unless they conform, they often spend all their time trying to satisfy society's demands. When they cannot meet up, they feel like they have failed, whereas they have not, and then there are some who meet society's demands and don't want to do anything again because at that point they feel fulfilled and don't see the need to go beyond that, thereby limiting their growth and never reaching their full potential.

The fear of being ostracized when you fail to meet society's demands has pushed more people than we can count into depression and even suicide. People fail to understand that society cannot be completely pleased, and putting the demands of society first will only drain you and will not even be rewarding to you in the end. When you put the demands of society first, you will still have some people complain that you did that, and when you finally put your own needs and demands first, you will still have people who will complain that you did; it is impossible to please society, so one thing I have learned is to live for me and not for society.

The day you overcome the fear of being ostracized and are not scared that the society will cut you off and make those decisions and choices that favor you that you might not have taken because of the fear of being ostracized, then you will keep living within the limit that the society has set for you. The society will always have that box it wants you to be confined to, but it is up to you if you want to stay within that box or you want to see what life outside that box feels like.

You have a will, but you just have to overcome that fear of being ostracized and do what favors you; don't let what the society will say or do limit you. There is nothing wrong with being different; there is nothing wrong with going outside that box the society wants us to be confined to. Your will is only taken from the moment you start thinking that your entire existence is tied to what society thinks or what society demands of you as an individual.
