Red Pill Overdose: (audio: noxsoma.substack.com)
TGI Friday Fam. Are you ready for some weekend. Looks like we’ve made it to another end of another week.
Bizarro Dream #72426. Maybe it’s because I have not taken my regular course of vitamins, (life minerals), in the last couple of days, or that I’ve been contemplating the levels of bullshit coming from the Church of Barking Dogs, in this particular dream, I am trying to catch up on my supplementation. So I am eating pill after pill until the bottle, probably a 30 day supply is empty.
The pills were red. Say no more right. But I did not make the connection until about an hour after I “woke up.” Which is why I am sharing the details.
After I’d taken the last pill, it was only then that I wondered what effect taking an entire bottle of red pills would have.
Oh well. That’s when I realized, that eating the red pills was a dream, so I didn’t have to worry about any effects. This was the “Inception” moment. Because I woke from one dream, into another dream, before I came back to what we will call “reality”. (I think referring to this as the Simulatrix at this point would be more confusing than usual.)
I went to sleep, after watching some bizarro pirate-anime, and listening to an audiobook attempting to explain the “philosophy” of Bertrand Russel, and pondering how little I “know” about what’s happening in the world. I “know” what I’m hearing. I comprehend what the Media Canines are slinging. I’ve noticed the switch-up, how the analysis has changed, and how the narrative has skewed, and since it’s Friday we, the audience, are likely to experience another weekend cliff hanger.
Lufties will recall, back in the day. Indeed, way back in the day. What we called “news” took on a chilly weekend vibe. In fact, the “news paper” (remember those?), dedicated an entire section to the weekend. It was called, The Weekend Section. It was all about activities going on from Friday evening happy hours to Sunday festivals, or somethings like that.
These anachronisms, “weekend guides in newspapers,” may still exist, (there is still a free weekly paper available in the hood, but I do not support it because of its stance on the lockdowns. Yes, your boy can hold a grudge, plus the editorial is full of shit anyway.) Plus, we no longer have the patience, the blissful ignorance, or the fantasy quotient to battle the Miami “scene.” The rewards simply are not there for Us.
But back to the state of this Planet of Violent Critters.
The “media” (remember what media is. It’s that middle between the herd and the activities that supposedly affect the herd), which I refer to as the Church of Barking Dogs, howl together in a discordant cacophony. Their howlings have become thicker and more frequent this month. And, we might add, less tolerable.
Have you ever had someone try to convince you of something so strenuously that their face contorts? They repeat themselves. Talking points are weaved into the analysis. They try very hard to be charming. They start citing their years of experience in the field. They interject “war stories” into the conversation. And let us not forget harsh criticism and personal attacks against unpopular leaders. And conversely, subtle praise, bordering on admiration for other world leaders. They begin to mention how credible their sources have been, and still are. And so on.
How do we evaluate these activities?
Because of our TV addiction, we read it in that context. Ratings are slipping and we want to save the show, so the network hires a popular seasoned actor to be part of the cast. “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” comes to mind. Danny DeVito was added in the second season. Likewise, with these Freelance geopolitical analysts, when interest drops off, (we can feel it), they increase the volume. More often, more talking heads, but overall less information and more speculation.
There comes a point when the formula plateaus and begins to decline. When the tubes are selling fear and humans stop being afraid, ratings, (views and analytics) take a hit. Plus it’s summer. Nobody has time for that spooky, end-of-the-world-stuff.
We expect attention to turn to the mid-term elections in a few weeks. Florida will have a new governor next year, and we don’t even know who’s running for the spot. We’re too busy over-dosing on red pills, in our dreams.
Stay safe, stay sane, stay strong, stay savvy, stay serene, stay sovereign, stay subscribed.
PEACE.
