LIVE IN ALICANTE

I attended the last Hive Live Event in Graz by chance (it so happened to be in the city were I reside) thanks to a YouTube notification. It was one of my major milestone as a Hivean, and for the next Hive Live Event in Alicante, I did make a conscious effort to attend and it turned out to be a pleasant experience.

My trip to Alicante was tedious. I had to travel from Graz to Vienna to catch my first flight to Milan. The connecting flight to Alicante was about three hours after my arrival. I got to Alicante around 0:00 and still had to roam around for another 15 hours before I could check in to my hostel (always make your reservations yourself people!). So the entire hassle did ruin my plans with the hive community on that said day, and I had already missed out on the presentations the previous day.

Things were not looking great on the first day of my trip, and I thought it might end up being a disaster, concerning I had just a few days to spend in Alicante. Fortunately, I was able to meet up for dinner later that evening, and it turned out great. Saw new and old faces. Had a couple chats whilst drinking beer. A perfect way to end a hectic day.

I had plans to visit Ibiza the following day but after weighing my options I decided to forgo my trip to hangout with the Hive community, and in hindsight, it was the better choice.

The follow day we went on a city tour courtesy our wonderful tour guide ninaeatshere@ninaeatshere. Our first stop was at Basilica De Santa Maria, one of the oldest active churches in Alicante built between the 14th-16th century. We were greeted by a warm-melodious song thanks to the choir and the immaculate view of the cathedral. It is always refreshing paying a visit to a church, and I enjoyed our brief visit.

Our next stop was the Maca Art Museum. The museum is said to house one of Spain's most important 20th century art collection and I will agree. We got to view so many beautiful art works (and some funny ones as well).

We continued our tour alongst the Santa Cruz district and we were able to experience the Cruces de Mayo festival, an important spring festival in Spain.

After a busy day touring the city, the few of us left standing decided to make one last stop at the beach. Can't swim but I do enjoy going to the beach and this wasn't an exception. The view was perfect and I got to enjoy the sun for the first time in a long while.

We ended the day with dinner at Altabirra. It was also our last night today. A perfect way to end a successful event. We said our goodbyes for the last time and made way to our respective destinations.

In conclusion, although I wasn't able to meet up for the Hive presentations, I did find this gathering meaningful in a different way. It wasn't so hivecentric. We got to enjoy ours whilst making new connections, which, in my opinion, is the whole point behind community community.

Want to say a big 'thank you' to everyone who participated and made this event possible.
