Splinterlands Ability Rarity Findings

Hello Good People!

Today I found myself looking into all of the different abilities in Splinterlands because of Halfling Alchemist.

I think that many already know this, but this card is the only one in the game with the Halving ability. This reality made me do some digging into what other abilities were on a limited number of cards.

Here's what I found:

Out of all of the abilities in the game (outside of Halving), the rarest ones appear to be Close Range (which allows ranged attacks in the first position), Dispel (which clears all positive stat effects when a monster hits the enemy), and True Strike (which causes attacks to always hit). I say this because each of these abilities has only three cards that have or grant the ability.

To take things a step further, I bumped True Strike to the bottom of this list because Byzantine Kitty can grant the ability to other cards AND because the Aim True rule sets grants this to every card in the battle.

I also bumped Close Range down because it can be granted via the Close Range rule set.

This left me with Dispel at the top of the list. At this point, the ability can't be granted with a summoner ability or a rule set so literally only three cards in the game can have this ability!

This was just some fun research that I did today and I thought I'd share. It's interesting to think about card rarity through the different lenses. Examples are the Furious Chicken being the only card with a zero mana cost and the Halfling Alchemist for the reason I previously mentioned. In the future, I think I'll look into the availability of abilities based on mana cost and card rarity. (Example: The only cards that have the Resurrect ability are all Legendary)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopes that it helps when considering cards to purchase, rent, or how to build your next deck. Take care and be blessed!
