Soulbound Card Purchasing Decisions

Soulbound cards can be purchased using Glint via Rarity Draws or Loot Chests. For the Rebellion set of soulbound cards, I decided to purchase cards using Rarity draws. The reasoning behind my decision was as follows. When the new soulbound set came out, my initial excitement was for Epic cards. My initial reaction to the Legendary cards is that they were underwhelming. Commons and Rares seemed decent. So I decided that I would make maxing out Epics my first priority. Then I would next focus on maxing out Rares and Commons. If there was enough time remaining before the next set is released, I would go after Legendaries. With the goal of just leveling them up to 1 or 2 because maxing them out is not a priority for my deck.

I think going with Rarity Draws was the right decision. With Loot Chests you are paying for the possibility of pulling a Legendary which I have decided is my last priority anyway. In addition, I still get a chance to test my luck from the Tier Advancement chests. I have been lucky enough to get four Legendaries from those chests.

Reason for Initial excitement

Back when the Rebellion Soulbound cards were first released the card everyone seemed to be talking about was Olivia. With the new Mimic ability combined with being an opportunity monster, the excitement around it is understandable. However, the card I was most excited about was Arachne Weaver because Death splinter had always lacked a proper healer.

Current status

All my Epic cards are at least level 5. One is maxed out. I now have to weigh buying Rarity Draws versus waiting until they are fully unlockable and at their cheapest on the market. I have enjoyed playing many of my Epics. Honestly Olivia has ended up being a card I rarely use. I play both Khazi Conjurer and Shock Trooper quite frequently. Certainly a lot more than I was expecting. Despite the fact that they do some damage to my lineup, I have found that it is still worth it to play them.

My current favorite

I have leveled them up and played the Epic monsters over the past few months. My favorite most used Epic card from the set has ended up being Halfing Refugee. What more could you ask for than a one mana card with like eight health, self healing, and 5 Melee damage at max level. And it is a neutral card so it can be played in almost every battle. Its versatility is incredible. I find myself using it in small mana and large mana battles and at both the beginning and end of my lineup. It makes a great buffer for Blast or other afflictions.

Common and Rare cards

I have leveled all my Commons up to level 5 and all my Rares up to level 4 and 5. I do not really play any of them routinely. They have ended up being niche monsters that I only really use when a ruleset forces me to use them. I am still interested in maxing them out for the sake of it. And who knows someday I may end up using some of them in my strategies and the meta could change as well.

This has just been my decision making and strategy. Do whatever you think is best for your deck using the available Glint you have. Everyone can have a slightly different approach. I have seen and heard of players who are prioritizing the Legendary cards. This is the opposite of the approach that I have taken.
