Is Storj V3 worth, how to register and setup?

What is Storj V3?

Storj V3 is a Decentralized Cloud Storage. That means it is a Cloud Storage like Dropbox, MEGA, iCloud and so on.

Storj have it own Ether token which is used for the Payouts.

That means you can get access to your data everywhere you have an internet connection.

But also normal person like us are powering this Cloud.

I can be the Cloud?

No directly... But you can provide your unused disk space to get a passive income.

Is it safe for me, when someone uploads illegal things?

Yes everything is safe. All data are Encrypt than  Splited and  Distributed to different provider.

So you will never be in touch with a complete file and when it will happen you can't open the splited files because you have no key for the decryption.

You said passive income!

Yeah :D You can install the V3 on Windows, Ubuntu, MacOS,  QNAP NAS with Intel CPU and ARM-based devices like a Pi. For everyone should be a way.

The installation is very easy. You need Docker, an account on no-ip or a static IP and a minimum of 500GB unused disk space.

Time for the installation!

The first thing you need is a beta key. You can get a key here.

Than download the identity program for you system. Unzip the folder and navigate with a console into the folder  than use this command (sometimes you have to write "sudo" in front of it). On Windows you have to drag and drop the .bat file.

./identity_darwin_amd64 create storagenode

It will take a few minutes up to hours to create the identity_key. After that type 

./identity_darwin_amd64 authorize storagenode <authorization-token>

now you created your identity. Navigate in the shown folder and backup the folder to recover your node.

Now open no-ip if you have no static IP and create an account and a free DDNS address. Note that you receive every 30 Days an email to renew the free DDNS to keep it alive.

Than follow this guide. After that step the guide is good to understand.

Open the port in your router. The port is 28967

Also create the watchtower to update your node automatic.

How much will I get?

You will get an income depend on your free space, download speed, downtime....

I made last month (05-2019) around 4.88$ but the first years a few Coins will go to a escrow

There is a python script to calculate the payout for every month.
