Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Brisbane's sub-tropical spring weather has made lots of our native plants flower and the birds are loving it. This one let me get so close; I was only about 2 metres away. The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo has a distinctive, loud call and are easily recognised since they are mostly white and one of our larger birds in Australia.

Each morning we wake with a hive of activity. (Pun intended 😉).

These photos were captured on my phone just across the road from my house on what we call the nature strip: a small bit of land separating the road from our property. It is supposedly maintained by our local council. When we first moved in years ago they planted a two native tree in front of each house which was a great initiative which looks great and attracts lots of different birds.
