Central Lakes parkrun, Queensland, Australia.
Central lakes was my 42nd different parkrun location. My one and only visit there was back in 2019. It is the most northly parkrun in the Brisbane area, 44 kilometres from the central business district. Central Lakes is a newish popular purpose-built housing estate which sold out in 2018. The medium house price is now $880,000 Aud. I would imagine all the purchasers made a tidy profit. It is part of Caboolture suburb in the Moreton Bay area which was first settled by the Europeans in 1842. Of course, the Yugarabul Aboriginal people have been there well before that. They used to call it Kabul-tur, meaning “the place of the carpet snakes" The European Settlers used the river for logging, but the place really took off when they found gold in Gympie 100 kilometres further north.
The highway section was a little boarding, but it made it easy to focus on my pace.
5th finisher in 21 minutes 36 seconds, I was much quicker back then than I am today. The guy behind me did alright too he ran in five fingers shoes which are almost like running barefoot.

The course was a fast, flat out and back, it started and finished with a lap around the lake, complete with a little bridge crossing. The lake part is quite scenic but the rest out to the turnaround was along the Bruce and D'Aguilar Highway. You don't get to see or hear much of the highway noise or traffic because of the big noise barriers.
