Rostros en Ibis Paint

Hello, as I promised yesterday, today I set aside the drawings with more fun themes and focused a bit on the more serious stuff. For that, I made this small study of four faces, three in grayscale and one in color. I will also tell you what I liked most and least about each face and each drawing process, so this will be more of an appreciative blog. For all the faces I used photographic references from Pinterest and to draw I used Ibis Paint; the brushes used were the ones that come by default in the application.

Hola, como prometí ayer, hoy dejé a un lado los dibujos con temáticas más divertidas y me centré un poco en lo más serio. Para eso hice este pequeño estudio de cuatro rostros, tres en escala de grises y uno a color. Además les contaré qué me gustó más y menos de cada rostro y de cada proceso de dibujo, así que será un blog más bien apreciativo. Para todos los rostros usé referencias fotográficas de Pinterest y para dibujar usé Ibis Paint; los pinceles usados fueron los que vienen por defecto en la aplicación.

Face 1: Boy, grayscale. What I liked most: the structure of the neck and the contour of the hair, as well as the lights; what I liked least were the eyes. I had decided to use a brush with a thick and somewhat rough line because I wanted to achieve that traditional effect, but it turned out to be the opposite.

Rostro 1: Chico, escala de grises. Lo que más me gustó: la estructura del cuello y el contorno del cabello, además las luces; lo que menos me gustó fueron los ojos. Me había decidido usar un pincel con una línea gruesa y algo tosca porque quería obtener ese efecto tradicional, pero resultó ser todo lo contrario.

Face 2: Girl in color. What I liked most was without a doubt the color; on the cheeks and lips I really liked the result, and I liked that the drawing turned out quite expressive. In this one, I did not like the structure of the shoulders and the symmetry of some parts; it basically happened because I drew on a very poor and poorly constructed structure, which carried these errors through to the final result.

Rostro 2: Chica a color. Lo que más me gustó fue sin dudas el color; en las mejillas y en los labios me gustó mucho el resultado y me gustó que quedó bastante expresivo el dibujo. En este, no me gustó la estructura de los hombros y la simetría de algunas partes; me pasó básicamente porque dibujé sobre una estructura muy pobre y mal construida, lo que llevó estos errores hasta el resultado final.

Face 3: Girl, grayscale. It was, together with the red-haired girl, among my favorite faces, especially because I used as a reference an image I had used for a traditional drawing and it hadn't turned out that well; here it turned out much better, and I was able, thanks to the advantages of digital media, to fix mistakes. There's not much that stands out above the rest in this drawing, but I would say the eyes and the eyelashes especially. What I liked least was the hair; I could have used many more highlights and details.

Rostro 3: Chica, escala de grises. Fue junto a la chica de rojo de mis rostros favoritos, sobre todo porque usé de referencia una imagen que había utilizado para un dibujo en tradicional y no había quedado tan bien; aquí quedó mucho mejor, y pude, gracias a las facilidades de lo digital, enmendar errores. No tiene mucho que destaque sobre lo demás en este dibujo, pero diría los ojos y las pestañas sobre todo. Lo que menos me gustó fue el cabello; podría haber usado muchos más brillos y detalles.

Face 4: Short-haired girl, grayscale. It was the one I liked the least of all the faces, perhaps because it has many, many structural errors, like all my faces in 3/4 view. That is the position I find most difficult, especially in the farthest areas and that second eye. Even so, I will highlight the nose, which although not very realistic, I think I resolved quite well.

Rostro 4: Chica de cabello corto, escala de grises. Fue el que menos me gustó de todos los rostros, quizás porque tiene muchos, pero muchos errores de estructura, como todos mis rostros en 3/4. Esa es la posición que más se me dificulta, sobre todo en las zonas más alejadas y en ese segundo ojo. Aun así, destacaré la nariz, que aunque no es muy realista, creo que la resolví bastante bien.
