Siente que su vida solo ha sido para sobrevivir y resistir, pero nunca para realizarse como persona o para seguir un sueño. Es decir según el solo vive para luchar otro día.

Aún así el no transmite estas ideas negativas que tiene en su mente a las personas que lo rodean. Vive con eso en su interior. Al ser una persona siega de nacimiento ha logrado desarrollar una gran habilidad del tacto, por lo que con las manos puede reconocer objetos, recordar la ubicación de las cosas y en general poder desenvolverse bien dentro del hogar. Con esa habilidad se gana la vida, pues la usa para contar y pulir piezas de platico en una fontanería. Hasta aquí su vida está marcada por la rutina de lucha, y seguir viviendo como se pueda. Aunque todo esto está a punto de cambiar. Santiago tiene un hermano, ese hermano tuvo hijos, así que ya tiene sobrinos.
